For the last few weeks I've been preparing for an International Women's day art trail in my local area.
24 Local Women Artists came together to exhibit work across 21 businesses in Biggleswade town centre with a percentage of funds from any sales made being donated to the charity Refuge who support women and children experiencing domestic abuse.
It was a fabulous event as it raised awareness for multiple people. The artists involved, Refuge and all of the businesses that generously agreed to give space up in their windows for us all to show off our creativity.
I was very fortunate to be offered the huge window in Willow Foundation on the High Street and have been invited to keep my work there until April. They are also a wonderful charity helping seriously ill young adults make precious memories creating bespoke experiences for them and their families. Their kindness and generosity made me immediately decide that i also want to give them a donation from my sales made over the month of March.
The sun definitely brought the community out and it was a really fun morning as there were three tiers of clue questions ranging from 'gentle' to 'cryptic'! Lots of confusion, laughing and going in the wrong direction brought strangers together and took us to places we didn't even know existed!
So, new friends made, amazing art was discovered and new shops were visited! I may have also found my new dentists! Who'd have thought! (that definitely wasn't on my 'to do' list for the day!!).
Thanks to everyone who took time from their day to be part of the morning and to those who donated to such a worthy cause.
Here's to a bigger and better trail next year!
